it's christmas eve, but it feels like any other day. my baby and me aren't having a christmas this year - too many things went wrong at once and it's just easier to not give gifts at the moment. i'm going to roast a chicken for the first time tomorrow, though, and crackle-up some porkbelly as well. the usual vegetables, too.

i'll retire this journal early in the new year. i was planning on giving it away anyhow, but finishing papasong with the death of my father has a towering symmetry, doesn't it?

my father has been hit by a truck. as best as we know, he has two broken legs, a broken pelvis, and serious internal bleeding. he's partly conscious, and in a lot of pain. basically, a water truck ran right the fuck over the top of him. he's being airlifted from hospital to hospital as i write, and in a bad way. i'm heading to the hospital in a minute.

at long last, we've moved - but only after a surprise, and a hiccup. the surprise, and it was a big one, was that before we left, that nasty, lying ol' bitch came through, and gave us $1200 in cash. we never saw that one coming. tristan thought that she'd have to hassle her for months for some of the cash, but i suppose my regular tantrums, along with the money already being seven months late, helped ease the way to this tasty windfall *laughs* the hiccup was, after waiting half an hour out the front of the house having a gab, i gave the guy with the van who was to help us move a call, and i was met with the phrase, "oh, is that today?" but it didn't matter, he didn't take long once i called, and nothing was going to spoil our mood, no fucking way.

i spent over $1500 this morning, on a mattress, a fridge and a washing machine. it's obscene, so much money, but there you go. i feel giddy!

yesterday i had a tremendous bust-up with tristan's boss, which began when she unlocked the bathroom door and walked in while i was naked and about to jump into the shower, and came to a head when she started banging on the wall as she was walking past our room and screaming at me to turn my television down - at 10 o'clock in the morning. at that i opened the door and gave her a spray and called her the piece of shit that she is - but none of this really matters, because, after so very, very fucking long, we have a new house! i got the phonecall at half-past nine, had a happy conversation with the real estate lady, hung up on her, called tristan, had her squeal into my ear with excitement, and within the hour had paid a weeks deposit, the rest to be paid on friday. we have no furniture, will soon have no money either, but we are just so fucking relieved to get out of here, you have no idea.

i'm limping around awkwardly at the moment, thanks to my brothers drunken antics on friday night while we were at the footy. i got collared by the cops as well, but talked me way out of that little scuffle. we looked at a couple of flats yesterday, but with my ankle as it is that was a bit of a bother. it's been a dicky weekend, really, up and at it.
